PESHAWAR: Five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani were killed in a suicide attack on Shangla-Besham road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, sources said.
The sources said that the passengers’ coach was carrying Chinese and Pakistani workers to Dasu Hydropower when hit by an explosive-packed suicide bomber.
Initial reports said a suicide bomber hit his car with the coach carrying workers from Battagram to Dasu where they were working on the Dasu Hydropower Project, a large hydroelectric gravity dam capable of producing 4,320 Mega Watt of electricity, in March 2024.
It is said that so far three terrorist attacks have been carried out on Chinese workers in Gwadar, Turbat, and Dasu, targetting various Chinese investments in Pakistan directly or indirectly related to CPEC/BRI/OBOR. The attacks aimed to sabotage the CPEC mega project. Officials said the Pakistan-China friendship would not be weakened through terrorism and the killing of innocent Chinese and Pakistani nationals.
Pakistan said China stands firmly with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Both China and Pakistan understand the culprits behind these recent terrorist attacks on Chinese investments in Pakistan. They said terrorists would pay a huge price for the attack.
