Slain Khyber police officer laid to rest with full honours

LANDIKOTAL: The funeral prayer of police constable Kamran Khan, who was killed in a gun attack by unidentified assailants in the Shakas area within the jurisdiction of Jamrud police station, was offered with full official honours at Police Lines Khyber in Shakas.

CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, Khyber DPO Waqar Ahmad, SP Investigation Shafiq Khan, Jamrud Assistant Commissioner Salman Hastam, Lieutenant Colonel Fida, other police officers, the bereaved family and a large number of local residents attended the funeral.

Police officers laid floral wreaths on the coffin and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and strength and patience for his bereaved family.

Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad paid tribute to constable Kamran Khan for his bravery, dedication and commitment to duty. He said the slain constable had set a high example of courage and devotion by sacrificing his life in the line of duty.

He added that such brave personnel are a source of pride for the police department and a valuable asset to the nation, and that their sacrifices will always be remembered.

The CCPO also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the elevation of the deceased’s rank in the hereafter and patience for his family.
On the same day, another Peshawar police officer, identified as Bahadur Shah, was shot dead by militants in the Sakhi Pur Area of Jamrud, and the militants fled from the scene.
It may be mentioned here that growing militancy and target-killing incidents in Khyber raised concerns of residents and civil society as more than 20 people have been killed in the past few months while several other injured and various terrorism related incidents.
