Death toll in Mohmand marble mine collapse mounts to 22

GHALLANAI: The death toll from the tragic incident of a marble collapse incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mohmand district reached 22 after ten more bodies were retrieved from under the rubble.

According to local sources, 22 bodies of the labourers working at the marble mine in KP’s remote area have so far been pulled out during the rescue operation and nine persons were injured in the incident and were shifted to the hospital.
The Rescue 1122 officials, local police, Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps personnel are taking part in the rescue activities, while local people are also assisting them in rescue operations. Local sources said the rescuers are facing difficulties in the rescue operation as no heavy machinery is available to remove the boulders.
Heavy machinery and manpower were dispatched to the area for assistance in the rescue operation sources added.
