DPO Khyber lauds journalists,forces sacrifices for homeland

LANDIKOTAL: District police Office doctor Muhammad Iqbal in his first-ever visit to Landikotal on Thursday said that tribal journalists, security personnel and tribal people’s sacrifices for the sake of the homeland would go to no waste and would be remembered in history.

 

DPO first went to police station Landikotal where he was warmly received by Deputy Superintendent of police Jamshid Shalmani and DSP Swalzar Khan Afridi. He met with police senior and junior officers and jawans.
The police officer inspected security measures and checked the police station record.
Muhammad Iqbal also met with jail inmates and asked about their legal problems inside the lockup. He directed the jail in Charge to provide all lawful needs and make take steps for the best possible services to the general public.

DPO met a Jirga of local elders and discussed their issues. He told the elders that the people of Landikotal were peaceful and would respect their traditions and culture. He said in the coming days they were establishing District Reconciliation Committee(DRC)to resolve local disputes within the norms and tribal culture.

“No one is above the law while poor and rich would be equally treated”, said Iqbal. He said without any crime police can not arrest and keep anybody locked up.

He lauded the sacrifices rendered by ex-Khasadars, levies personnel and tribal journalists which would be remembered.

The police officer said that the police process had been continued from phase to phase which would take some time. He said they would provide arms and other necessary equipment to the police personnel when the Khasadars to police transition period is completed.
He said that they have started proper training sessions for the merged tribal districts’ police personnel to prepare a professional police force.
The police officer thanked the tribal elders for their hospitality and vowed that he would be in touch with them.
Earlier, DPO Khyber also visited the grave of martyred tribal journalist Mehboob Shah Afridi who had lost his life in a suicide blast a few years ago. The official offered a prayer for the departed soul of the slain journalist and paid tribute to his contribution to the peace in the area.
