LANDI KOTAL: The Pak-Afghan Highway has remained blocked for the past five days as political representatives, tribal traders and social workers from Landi Kotal continue their protest over the alleged abduction of elderly businessman Haji Muhammad Zareef Shinwari, also known as “Landi Haji.”
The protesters have been holding a sit-in at the Charwazgai area of Landi Kotal, demanding the immediate recovery of the missing trader and urging the government to take concrete measures for his safe return.
The prolonged closure of the key highway has disrupted movement and trade activity in the area, with protesters maintaining that the government must ensure the safe recovery of Mr Shinwari and provide justice to his family.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, also visited the protest camp at the Pak-Afghan Highway in Landi Kotal and addressed the participants.
Speaking to the protesters, the provincial minister urged the government and senior officials to take practical and immediate steps for the recovery of Haji Muhammad Zareef Shinwari.
He said the provincial government stood with the affected family in their difficult time and would make every possible effort for the trader’s recovery.
The protesters have vowed to continue their sit-in until the missing trader is recovered, while calling on the authorities to treat the matter as a priority and take effective action.
