Unidentified assailants shot and killed two police officers assigned to protect polio vaccination workers in the southern Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident occurred in the Kacha Garha area within the limits of the Gomal police station.
The victims, identified as police constables Nisar Betani and Pir Rehman Betani were on security duty for the polio team, sources added that the two had been shot at by unknown assailants who then managed to escape.
The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital Tank for autopsy.
