ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded a 64 percent decline in illegal migration, with international organizations appreciating the government’s efforts to curb irregular migration and strengthen border management.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the remarks during separate meetings with International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Director General Susan Rabe and Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens.
The meetings focused on preventing illegal migration, improving border management and enhancing cooperation with international partners.
Naqvi said achieving a 64pc reduction despite limited resources had been a challenging task, adding that the government’s next target was to further reduce illegal migration through more effective measures.
He stressed the importance of expanding legal channels for overseas travel, adopting modern technology and improving professional training for relevant officials.
The minister said stronger coordination between Pakistani and international institutions was essential to addressing illegal migration effectively.
ICMPD Director General Susan Rabe appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to combat illegal migration and described the measures taken by the country as commendable.
