Police vow action against drug dealers, criminals

LANDIKOTAL: Newly appointed Station House Officer (SHO) of Landikotal, Nafees Afridi, on Thursday said that they would bring all criminals to justice and would not allow anyone to sabotage peace in Landikotal.

Flanked by additional SHO Rozi Shah Shinwari and Muharrar Malik Ayaz Shinwari, Nafees Khan Afridi told a press conference here at the District Press Club Landikotal that he would not tolerate illegal activities ranging from drug use and trafficking to kidnapping for ransom. He said high-ups tasked him to maintain peace and work with citizens for their welfare.
Nafees Afridi appreciated the role of the local journalist community in highlighting public issues despite difficult circumstances.
He said police would take effective action against drug dealers and other criminals in the area, adding that no leniency would be shown to those involved in criminal activities.
“The protection of the lives and property of the people is the foremost responsibility of the police,” he said.

The SHO said local issues and disputes would be addressed through consultation among tribal elders, community leaders and police officials. He added that the police would make every effort to resolve disputes through negotiations and dialogue.

He urged residents and tribal elders to cooperate with the police in improving the law and order situation so that peace and stability could be maintained and people could lead safer and better lives.
