Thieves stolen Electricity Towers in Khyber arrested

LANDIKOTAL: Police have arrested the thieves who had stolen parts of the 33KV electricity supply lines’ towers in Shagai hills that suspended electricity supply to all Landikotal areas for the last week, police officials said on Sunday.

Station House Officer(SHO) of Ali Masjid police station Amjad Khan Afridi said that miscreants had cut off the main towers of electricity in Shagai hills a week ago. He said they received multiple complaints from consumers in Landikotal tehsil for the arrest of the culprits. He said the police constituted a quick response team and started the search in the Ali Masjid police station jurisdiction.

“Within a few hours we reached the thieves and recovered the theft parts of the main electricity main towers from their possession”, said SHO Amjad Khan. He added that in the first interrogation, the two arrested thieves identified as Nabi Gul alias Gulnay and Noor Jamal admitted the crime and told about the three other persons involved with them in the crime.

The police official said the stolen parts of the electricity towers were recovered from a cave in Rekalay village in Ali Masjid. He said the arrested persons were shifted to sub-jail Jamrud where they would be under investigation.

Amjad Khan said they have started raids to arrest the rest of the culprits who stole public assets and caused panic among the residents in Landikotal.

Amjad said the same kind of incident used to happen twice every year causing the suspension of electricity supply to the whole Landikotal areas including the Pakistan Army,civil and private institutions along with thousands of residents who used to remain in blackout for weeks.

Residents thanked SHO Amjad Afridi and his staff for their quick action and appealed to the district police officer of Khyber Imran Khan to award them honorary certificates for their honest work.
