Gunmen Kill Girl,Injured Boy Inside Home In Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: Residents blocked the Pak-Afghan highway after gunmen intruded into a home in Walikhel village in Landikotal and shot dead a girl and injured her brother, police said on Friday.

Station House Officer(SHO) of Landikotal police station Shah Khalid Shinwari told this scribe that accused Ihsanullah along with three others intruded into the home of Nazir Afridi and opened firing. He said a twenty-year-old daughter of Nazir Afridi received bullet injuries and died on the spot. He said grade 9 student Raheel Afridi also sustained wounds.

The killers managed to escape from the scene, police said. The injured boy has rushed to the Hayatabad Medical Complex where his health condition was stated stable.

Shah Khalid said on the consent of the bereaved family head Nazir, they have lodged a First Information Report(FIR) against accused Ihsanullah and three other unknown persons. Police started raids against the culprits, he said.

Meanwhile, Hundreds of Walikhel residents blocked the Peshawar-Torkham highway in Khyber Walikhel and put the coffin of the slain girl on the road. They chanted slogans against the brutal killing of the girl.

Hundreds of passengers vehicles and loaded trucks were stranded for at least an hour due to the blockade.

With the intervention of Landikotal police, the protesters reopened the road after the police assurance to arrest the culprits.
