State School in Khyber Wins British Award

PAKISTAN: A state-run primary school in district Khyber got “Full International School British Award 2021” in the month-long different kinds of environmental and social awareness activities in the inter-schools competition held last month.

British High Commission Islamabad and Muslim Hands United Kingdom jointly had arranged month-long activities competitions among the government schools across the world in which each school had to complete the given tasks. The activity was themed connecting class which aimed to involve school children in healthy activities Three categories ie, (1)Full International School award(2)Foundation award(3)Intermediate award were set for the first, second and third position holder.

Thousands of students of state schools were involved in creative and healthy activities. It said that the aim of the activities was to bring awareness among the new generation to help preserve the environment and contribute to a better future ahead.

According to the results issued by the British Consulate General of Pakistan said that topics including pollution, healthy environment, plantation, healthy food, clean water, cleanliness, religious festivals and language were given to students from grade 1st up to grade-12. It said that the selected schools across the globe were tasked to work on the mentioned topics within a month. Government Primary School(GPS) Wazirdand in Jamrud of district Khyber remained the top in ex-Fata schools while also finding a place among the top-20 across the country.

Talking to this correspondent Government Primary School Wazirdand headteacher Muhammad Wajid Afridi said a good number of other schools from each tehsil of Pakistan participated in the activities.

He said they had given seven activities to compete at national and international levels of competitions. He added that three of his school’s activities also got a place at the international level.

“By the Grace of Almighty Allah my school Government Primary School Wazirdand Jamrud in district Khyber got the first position in “Full International School Award 2021 the by British Consulate General”, said Wajid Afridi.

He said British Consulate General once in three years conducts activities-based competitions in which developing countries including Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, India, Nepal and other states take part.
The award ceremony is scheduled in Peshawar on December 22.

Director Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim, District Education Officer Khyber Muhammad Nisar, assistant district education officer Khan Azam Afridi and Planning and Developing(P&D)district education officer Misal Khan Shalmani congratulated the students and headteacher Muhammad Wajid and his students for their fruitful efforts. They said it was not only honour and dignity for the students of Khyber but for all Pakistanis.
They termed the award-winning as their teamwork, commitment and dedication to the teaching profession.
Assistant District Education Officer(ADEO)of district Khyber Khan Azam Afridi visited the government primary school Wazirdand in Jamrud and met the students and teachers.He appreciated their efforts and congratulated them for winning such a prestigious British award.
