Protest held against NLC in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: Transporters, customs clearing agents, and political party leaders Monday staged a protest demonstration against National Logistic Cell(NLC) in Landikotal bazaar and blocked the bypass road for one hour.

A large number of protesters including transporters, customs agents, and local residents held black flags and banners inscribed with slogans against NLC officials on the Torkham border. They marched into Landikotal bazaar and gathered at the bypass road. To record their protest they blocked the road for any kind of movement for one hour. 

 Senator Taj Mohammad Afridi, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Landikotal chapter Abdur Raziq Shinwari, the president of custom clearing agents at Torkham, Zarqeeb Shinwari, Mirajuddin Shinwari, president of Khyber transporter union Shakir Afridi, Awami National Party leader, Shah Hussain Shinwari and leader of Naujawanan-e-Khugakhel Israr Ahmad Shinwari also took part in the protest.

Speaking to the protesters Israr Shinwari, Zarqeeb, Abdur Raziq, Miraj and Shah Hussain said that NLC officials at the Torkham border violated the accord with had been signed with the Khugakhel tribe. they accused NLC was grabbing their paternal property in Torkham.

They maintained NLC was a logistics company and had no legal authority to ask passengers for their traveling documents.

Senator Taj Mohammad Afridi said that he will back the protesters to give them their rights. He stressed to NLC high-ups to respect the accord that had been signed with the Khuga Khel tribe.

Later, Lieutenant colonel of Khyber Rifles, Omair resumed traffic at the bypass road after holding successful dialogues with the protesters.  He assured them that he will discuss the issue with high-ups.

Given 10 days deadline, the protesters threatened that they will extend their protest and stage a sit-in at the Torkham border if NLC officials have not stopped their illegal activities at the Torkham border.
