PML-N Shows Concern Over Poor Law & Order

DISTRICT KHYBER: Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) on Wednesday asked the government to stop police who harassing and arresting the people or else they would stage a protest.

Expressing concern over the worsening law and order in Peshawar and Khyber District, the office-bearers of PMLN said that police are involved in harassing residents and extortion local residents.

Speaking at a press conference, Pakistan Muslim League Provincial vice-president Zahir Shah Afridi, president of the Khyber chapter Asghar Afridi, ex-Fata Quardinator Imran Afridi and others said that on October 12, Mohammad Khan chairman of the neighbourhood along with other friends were present in a motor bargain at Ring Road Peshawar when DSP Sher Afzal headed by SHO Pishtakhra Iftikhar Arif had conducted an illegal raid and Muhammad Khan along with his friends had arrested and shifted them into lockup.

They accused the police officers had demanding extortion money from Muhammad Khan and his friends, however, after 24 hours they had not paid extortion and lodged a false drug case against them.

They demanded that an immediate judicial inquiry commission should be appointed under the supervision of the Peshawar High Court for a transparent investigation into the incident. They said the CCTV footage of the incident site and surrounding of the car showroom, where the residents were picked up, should be re-examined.

The Muslim League leaders demanded that the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and CCPO Peshawar take serious notice of the illegal arrest and bring the Peshawar Police to justice as they unnecessarily harassing the business community of Afridi tribes and demanding cash from them.
They also demanded that the policemen involved in these heinous crimes should be traced and punished.
