First flight of Afghan refugees arrives in Canada

TORONTO: The first group of Afghans who helped Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan arrived in Canada.

The first flight carrying Afghans who helped the Canadian military in Afghanistan has arrived in Canada.
an official statement on Wednesday evening said, that more flights will be arriving in the coming days and weeks.
The federal government did not disclose how many refugees were on board the flight Wednesday and where the refugees will live has not been disclosed also for security reasons.
The government said the refugees have undergone security screening, have been tested for COVID-19, and will be quarantined.
The Canadian government last month announced a special program to urgently resettle Afghans deemed to have been “integral” to the Canadian Military mission in Afghanistan including interpreters, drivers, cooks, cleaners, construction workers, security guards, and the Canadian embassy Afghan staff as well as their family members.
