Customs Authorities Seized Rs,450 million Goods

TORKHAM: Customs authorities seized foreign goods million of rupees and foreign currency at Torkham, officials said on Sunday.

Collector Customs Torkham Amjadur Rehman told Fata Voice News that they, in two different raids, recovered different non-custom-paid items worth Rs450 million. He said that they stopped a coil-loaded truck coming from Afghanistan and recovered 322 heavy truck tires and medicines.

In another action, customs enforcement officer Moeenuddin Wani said they stopped a passenger identified as Musaam Khan and recovered US dollars 10,000 from his possession. He was arrested, and a case was registered against him. He also stated that they recovered $5,000 from a woman and challenged her to cooperate with further investigation. He said customs officials were put on high alert to curb the smuggling.
