ANP asks federal govt to grant double package to tribal region

LANDIKOTAL: The former provincial information minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and a senior party activist of the Awami National Party(ANP), Mian Iftikhar Hussain has asked Imran Khan’s government to grant tribal areas a double package as its tribal belt had received lots damages during militancy.

Talking during a news conference in Landikotal press club here on Saturday, ANP leader, Mian Iftikhar said that tribal areas had their own share of money under the NFC award with the federal government.

Accusing Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf(PTI) he said the govt was cheating tribal people. He said after the Fata merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the government must give a double package to tribal areas for their rehabilitation. Apart from its own share, the tribal belt should also be given another package too as it was the most suffered region in Pakistan during militancy.

Regarding national foreign policy, the ANP leader said that the state government must format its policy for the welfare of its citizens. he said their party wants bilateral friendly ties with Afghanistan. He stressed both countries did not blame one another for terrorist activities that had been carried out in both states.

To a question, Iftekhar demanded the government allot special cards to local residents and labourers who had to cross the Torkham border multiple times daily for business purposes. The National Logistics Cell (NLC) authority should not create hurdles for poor locals who have to travel to Afghanistan on daily basis.
