Afghan journalist died in Italy shipwreck

PESHAWAR: The Afghan journalist Torpiki Amrakhil who had been trying to reach Italy perished in the sea off the coast of Italy and passed away when the boat aboard capsized.

According to Afghan media. Afghan journalist, former announcer of Radio Afghanistan and Radio UNAMA, Torpiki Amrakhil died in the Shipwreck off the coast of Italy.
The wooden boat was thought to be carrying around 250 people; over 150 are known to have died.
Passengers on board came from Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran all trying to cross illegally to Europe.
Afghanistan’s Taliban-led foreign ministry said on Tuesday that 80 Afghan citizens, including children, had died on Feb. 26 in a shipwreck off the southern coast of Italy.
