High-Level Meeting Held at Torkham Border

LANDIKOTAL: Pakistani and Afghan officials Wednesday held at Torkham border and discussed various issues including bilateral trade and security.

The meeting was chaired by additional collector customs Muhammad Shakir from the Pakistani side.
Pakistan Army official colonel Rana from the Frontier Corps (FC), customs Assistant collector Umar Jan, representatives of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), superintendent Pakistan Customs Siddiq Akbar, superintendent Sher Ahmad Khan, Khyber chamber of commerce, president Yousaf Afridi and senior vice president Wajid Ali Shinwari also attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on enhancing trade, customs issues and the challenges faced by daily wagers, workers and the public.
Additional collector Muhammad Shakir emphasized the commitment to prioritize traders’ issues and promised to address the difficulties faced by Afghan authorities.
He stated that efforts would be made to facilitate imports and exports, ensuring timely support for traders to boost commerce between the two countries and increase the annual business volume. The meeting concluded with participants expressing satisfaction regarding decisions made to provide better facilities for traders, highlighting the importance of such governmental initiatives in resolving business-related issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
