LANDIKOTAL: District Khyber anti-car lifting police force in charge inspector Abid Khan Afridi Monday claimed to have apprehended several vehicles and bikes with bogus and tempered chassis numbers in the past few weeks in Jamrud, Bara and Landikotal tehsils in district Khyber.
Talking to Fata Voice News Abid said that they sent the files of booked vehicles and bikes to respective police stations and excise departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab for verification.
District Khyber’s anti-car lifting cell, established a few months ago, has to start checking vehicle registration documents and chassis numbers at various check posts.
“We have constituted mobile police teams and checking points to apprehend stolen and snatched vehicles and take actions against car lifters and outlaws keeping in view the directives of capital city police officer Muhammad Ali Gandapur and district police officer Doctor Muhammad Iqbal”, said Abid.
He said Punjab police have sent them a list of cars and bikes stolen from various parts of Punjab. He said they have also collected data of FIRs registered against the car lifters in various cities of Pakistan which is gradually being followed to reach the culprits.
The anti-car lifting cell in charge said despite the recovery of stolen and snatched cars and bikes it would also help maintain law and order in the district. He said trained police officers had been deployed to check the originality of vehicles and bikes so that they could break up the car-lifting gang deeprooted in district Khyber.
The official urged citizens to contact immediately when if any vehicle or bike is being stolen in the district.
