Unidentified assailant kills Sikh shopkeeper in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A Sikh shopkeeper was shot and killed by an unknown assailant in Peshawar the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

According to sources, Diyal Singh was attacked by unknown assailants riding a motorcycle when he was sitting in his own shop, Dayal Singh died on the spot.
The area where the murder took place falls within the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehman Baba. Police said that investigations are underway but no clues have been found yet.
The police collected pistol shells and other evidence from the crime scene and CCTV footage from the site is being obtained.
However, the reason behind the murder is not yet known and police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident was motivated by a personal grudge, sources added.
The incident comes a day after Hindu doctor Birbal Genani former Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) senior director of health and eye specialist, was shot dead by unknown assailants in the port city.
According to the police, Dr. Genani, along with his assistant lady doctor, were headed to Gulshan-e-Iqbal from Ramswamy when unidentified armed men targeted their car near the Garden interchange on the Lyari Expressway.
