New polio case surfaces in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR: One more case of polio has been reported in North Waziristan on Tuesday, taking the total number of registered polio cases in Pakistan to 56.

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), a three-year-old boy belongs to the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was confirmed to have poliovirus.
The children infected with the crippling disease has never been administered the anti-polio vaccine, said sources.

Giving details, the source said that a three-month-old infant was tested positive for poliovirus in Duki area of Balochistan.
In Sindh, a four-year-old boy was diagnosed with the crippling disease in Ghotki.
