PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has transferred administrative control of 32 directorates and government institutions in 12 designated districts to Regional Development Secretariats, in a major restructuring of the provincial administrative setup.

The decision, approved by the governor, was formally notified by the provincial Chief Secretary, according to an official notification.

Under the new arrangement, the institutions will function under the administrative supervision of the respective secretaries of Regional Development Secretariats instead of their parent departments.

The transfer of control will also cover the institutions’ official responsibilities, records, assets, equipment and other administrative resources. Their officers will report to the relevant secretaries of the regional secretariats.

The notification states that the Additional Chief Secretary (Designated Districts) will assign the relevant officers to the respective secretariats. However, transfers of officers and employees will be made with the approval of the Chief Secretary.

It further clarifies that the administrative changes will not affect employees’ existing service conditions, designations, seniority, pension rights or other benefits.

The concerned institutions will continue operating from their existing premises, and no relocation of offices will take place as part of the restructuring.
