SKARDU: Four members of a family, including a husband, his wife and their two children, were allegedly shot dead inside their home in Madina Colony, Skardu, in a suspected honour killing, according to initial reports.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a marriage of choice contracted by the woman against her family’s wishes around six years ago. The woman, who belonged to a Syed family in Parachinar, had married a resident of Skardu, and the couple had since been living together with their two children.
According to sources, a suspected assailant belonging to the woman’s family allegedly travelled from Parachinar to Skardu after keeping the family under surveillance. The suspect reportedly entered their residence under the cover of darkness and opened fire, killing all four occupants before fleeing the scene.
Police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to trace and arrest the suspected attacker. However, further details about the incident and the identity of the victims have yet to be officially confirmed.
