LANDIKOTAL: A journalist and social worker hailed from Landikotal died and three other journalists were critically injured when their car met an incident in Hazara Motorway on Wednesday, sources said.
The sources said journalists identified as Gohar Ali Afridi, Junaid Khan, Rahat Shinwari and Tanzeel Khan were returning from Naraan to Landikotal. They said when they reached to Hassanabdal motorway the car fell into a deep ditch. As a result, Gohar Ali Afridi, who also runs a philanthropic organization “Rokhana Sabawoon” helping the poor, lost his life on the spot while his three others sustained injuries. The reason behind the incident could not be ascertained.
They were retrieved from the car and shifted to PIMS Hospital in Islamabad. According to hospital sources, Junaid was put on ventilation due to his critical health condition.
Journalist communities urged the government to provide the best possible health care to the injured journalists.
Gohar Ali was later laid to rest in Khyber Walikhel graveyard in Landikotal.
