LANDIKOTAL: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday visited the Afghan refugees’ transit camp established in Landikotal and reviewed the facilities being provided there in detail, official sources said.
During the governor’s visit, senior officials, including the director general of PDMA, the director general of NADRA, officials from FIA and customs, deputy commissioner Khyber, and Rescue 1122 personnel, were also present.
Authorities briefed the governor that special arrangements have been put in place at the Landikotal transit point to ensure the dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees. They informed that around ten thousand Afghan nationals were returned daily to their country in a phased manner through the Torkham border.

Speaking to the media, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said there was complete coordination between the federal and provincial governments regarding the repatriation of Afghan refugees. Responding to a question about the Pak-Afghan border situation, he stated that while Pakistan continues to extend all possible assistance to the Afghan people, necessary measures are also being taken in view of security concerns to ensure law and order in the country.
The governor also met with Afghan refugees at the camp, listened to their concerns, and directed relevant authorities to provide the families awaiting repatriation with the maximum available facilities so that the process could be carried out in an organized, smooth, and dignified manner.
He further added that Pakistan has hosted Afghan refugees for decades, and the government was taking all possible steps to ensure their respectful return.
