LANDIKOTAL: Khyber District Police Officer Dr Muhammad Iqbal on Tuesday dismissed three police officers from their services and suspended 70 others on narcotics and corruption charges respectively.
DPO Khyber Dr Muhammad Iqbal said on the grounds of information provided by state intelligence agencies he removed three police officers from their services. He said the three policemen were charged with alleged involvement in narcotics dealing and supporting narcotics smuggling in Pakistan.
Those removed from their services were identified as constable Hussain Akbar, constable Muhammad Tahir and constable Anwar Khan.
Dr Iqbal said on the basis of the evidence they took action against the three police persons who were involved in Narcotics dealing and transporting heroin, hashish and Ice drug from one place to another in Pakistan. He said police have arrested two of the sacked policemen while they were conducting raids at targeted places to arrest the third one. He said the case has been registered again three.
Meanwhile, DPO Khyber on the directives of IGP Peshawar suspended 70 other police officers in the Landikotal, Bara and Jamrud subdivisions of district Khyber.
Issuing suspension orders, DPO Iqbal told this scribe that it was a historical action against its own serving policemen ever taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department.
“We had received complaints and also intelligence agencies reported Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department about the involvement of the listed 70 police officers in corruption”, said DPO. He added that four Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSPs) Sub-Inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors were also among those suspended for corruption charges.
The police officer said they have started departmental inquiries against all these police servants and issued their orders to report to the Shakas police station with immediate effect.
“I am proud that we have taken lawful action against culprits and have adopted zero tolerance for those who by either means defame Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department”, Dr Iqbal expressed. He said they would not allow any serving police personnel to swallow public money or be involved in anti-government activities.
He said notification of suspension orders had been sent to all concerned departments and has started further investigation.
