LANDIKOTAL: A local peace committee leader was shot and killed while two other volunteers received bullet injuries in Tirah valley, the remote area of tehsil Bara of Khyber district, the local administration confirmed.
The sources told this scribe that a local peace committee leader, Maza Khan was shot and killed by unknown miscreants in the Bar Qamber Khel area in Tirah valley of Bara tehsil in Khyber. Two other volunteers of the committee were also injured in the happening, the sources said.
Soon after the occurrence, security personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area. The injured persons were shifted to the nearby health center in Tirah valley. The security personnel collected evidence and launched a search operation in the area, the sources stated.
As per the sources, Maza Khan was on the way to the tehsil office in Tira when unknown miscreants attacked him near Bohtaan kandao.
No one has accepted responsibility for the attack, the sources said.
It may be added here that the local peace committee had rendered multiple sacrifices along with security forces to restore peace in Khyber tribal district.
