Antipolo drive to begin from Monday in Tribal districts

LANDIKOTAL: A three-day anti-polio vaccination drive will start in Tribal Districts of erstwhile Fata from Monday, in which 884771 children under the age of five years would be vaccinated.

As per the details received from Fata Voice a three-day-long anti-polio campaign followed by a catch-up of missed children and surveillance will kick off in Tribal districts, under the supervision and security provided by Deputy Commissioners, District Health Officers, and Security Forces.

4120 teams comprising 3803 mobile teams, 227 fixed, and 90 transit teams mobile teams have been assigned with a focus on reaching and vaccinating a total of 884771 children below the age of 5 years.

According to Capt, (R), Kamran Ahmad Afridi, coordinator of Emergency Operation Centre Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all the necessary arrangements should be ensured for high quality and effective anti-polio campaign that could set a benchmark for the rest of the 2019 campaigns. He said it was important that we strive to boost the immunity of every child against poliovirus and simultaneously aim to prevent the virus from moving.
