Two killed In Rain Related Incidents

KHYBER: Two persons were killed while a number of houses were reported partially damaged and a few fully destroyed due to heavy pours and flash floods in various areas of Landikotal tehsil in district Khyber of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

Assistant commissioner of Landikotal Irshad Ali Mohmand told this scribe that flash floods and heavy rain havoc devastations in Mukhtarkhel, Khyber, Mirdadkhel, Shalman and Pasedkhel villages in Landikotal. He said around ten houses have been so far confirmed partially damaged and a few rooms completely destroyed in flash floods.

He said two bodies were also recovered from flood water in Loey Shalman and Charbagh Pasedkhel village in Landikotal.

Meanwhile, a heavy container truck and a passenger van were also washed away by the flood.

Reports from Loey Shalman said that standing crops on hundreds of acres of land were also destroyed in the flash flood.
Passengers in taxi cabs were stacked on the Pak-Afghan highway for three hours due to flood water that had crossed over the main road at various places in district Khyber.

Police and district administration jointly conducted a rescue and clearance operation and reopened the Peshawar-Torkham road for traffic.
