LANDIKOTAL: The Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotics (PIPSO) provided artificial limbs to 16 disabled individuals here on Monday.

A ceremony was arranged at the District Headquarters Hospital in Landikotal, attended by doctors, paramedical staff, elders, and family members of special persons.

Assistant Commissioner of Landikotal, Irshad Ali Mohmand, was the special guest. Irshad Ali Mohmand emphasised that parents play their due role by ensuring proper and timely vaccinations for their children, including anti-polio and other compulsory vaccinations against various diseases.

He said that ignorance and a lack of timely vaccinations often lead to individuals losing body parts. He also said that a special person is not just a burden for themselves but for their entire family and community.

Irshad Ali Mohmand expressed gratitude to the health staff and PIPSO for providing artificial limbs to deserving individuals. He said those who received artificial limbs could now work and walk properly, contributing to their livelihoods and supporting their families.

Approximately 50 individuals had applied for artificial limbs, with most of them having already received the required limbs. Additional Assistant Commissioner Ramiz Ali Shah, District Health Officer Dr Zafar Ali Khan, Dr Sher Zaman Khan, and others also addressed the gathering. The recipients of the artificial limbs expressed their gratitude to the officials.
