LANDIKOTAL: Malak Nadeem Afridi has accused the local administration of taking no action on the Peshawar court order and stressed to the opposers of Kata Kushta Toll Plaza to stop harming laymen while blocking the Pak-Afghan highway.
The Founder of Karwan-e-Khyber, a political party, Malak Nadeem Afridi along with his followers Monday visited the Landikotal press club. While criticizing the role of the Landikotal administration Nadeem Afridi said that the Assistant Commissioner had failed to take notice of the people who had blocked the road, adding that they could not implement the high court order. Afridi said those who were opposing tax collection on the toll plaza established on the Peshawar-Torkham road in the Kata Kushta area of Jamrud should adopt a legal procedure instead of increasing hurdles for transporters and common people for no reason.
They said that they should also knock on the door of the high court against the verdict and they should stay away from illegal actions due to which passengers were suffering badly.
“We should not increase the miseries of people. After the merger, all departments will come and start work in Khyber according to the constitution. The toll plaza will collect the tax that will be spent for the repair and construction works on the Peshawar-Torkham road when needed,” Shakir said.
He expressed they did not want any tussle but some influential people hailing from the other area created anarchy and tension in the area which may lead to hatred among tribes.
Nadeem said, “All the parties along NHA will hold talks in Jamrud tomorrow. A pinch of people has blocked the road while the majority of people of the area back the establishment of the toll plaza.”
Transporters led by Shakir Afridi have been protesting tax collection on the toll plaza established at Peshawar-Torkham road in the Kata Kushta area in Landikotal for the last three days.
