LANDIKOTAL: Provincial caretaker minister for relief and rehabilitation Taj Muhammad Afridi has said that the long-awaited demand for the
construction of the Landikotal press club was delayed due to the differences between journalists in Khyber.

Caretaker Minister Taj Muhammad Afridi was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Landikotal press club held on Monday. He said journalists’ role in peace and development could not be denied. He said the lack of unity among the journalist’s communities delayed the construction work on Landikotal press that had been formally inaugurated some ten years ago. He said his ministry was working day and night to provide the best possible assistance to citizens in need. He said the press club construction matter would be taken up with the Chief Minister and concerned departments so that the construction work could be initiated.

Landikotal press club’s newly elected president Khalil Jabran, Tribal Union of Journalists interim chairman Qazi Fazalullah, and senior journalist and member of the cabinet Pervez Khan Afridi also spoke on the occasion.

Assistant commissioner of Landikotal Irshad Ali Mohmand, chairman Landikotal Shah Khalid Shinwari, tehsildar Dawood Khan Afridi, SHO Landikotal police station Ibrahim Shinwari and local elders, poets, civil soc and bazaar union representatives attended the ceremony.
Caretaker minister Taj Muhammad Afridi later took oath from Khalil Jabran and his cabinet.
