PESHAWAR: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan allegedly burnt to ashes the Government Girls Higher Secondary School(GGHSS) Mambati Barakzai Kotka Mir Pao Jan, located in Mambati Barakzai area of Mirian Tehsil of Bannu District last night, local sources said on Tuesday.
Residents said unidentified persons set fire to all the equipment of the science lab in the science room took away solar plants and some pressure pump machines from the school in the night and fled from the scene.
The unknown persons also left a threatening message written on the main gate of the school asking the authorities to close the school to avoid more damage. The owner of the school also confirmed told by unknown persons to close the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mambati Barakzai Kotka Mir Pao Jan, while threatening more dire consequences if the school is opened.
District Police Officer Banu Ifthar Khan and other senior police officers visited the school and inspected the burnt classroom in the school.
Due to the threatening message written on the school gate, spread fear and panic among the schoolgirls and their parents. The police also took fingerprints at the school.
The DPO said an investigation was being conducted after which a statement would be issued soon in this regard to inform parents and concerned authorities.
Former district administrator and owner of the school Salimur Rahman said that the school equipment worth more than five million rupees was burnt by unknown persons.
It may be mentioned here that TTP and other militant groups had also destroyed and burnt some government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially in the tribal district of Khyber in the two decades militancy after 9/11.
