LANDIKOTAL: At least four persons were injured when two rival parties traded gunfire over a piece of land in Walikhel village in Landikotal on Thursday, police sources said.

The sources said that two groups identified as Mustaqil Afridi and Abdul Khaliq Afridi first exchanged harsh words over the construction of street pavement in Walikhel village and exchanged firing over each other. Four persons, from both sides, received bullet injuries and rushed to district headquarters hospital in Landikotal.

Additional Station House Officer Bakhtrawan Afridi reached the spot and controlled the situation.
One of the seriously injured was shifted to Peshawar, sources said. Police registered FIR against the parties.

Meanwhile, Khugakhel tribesmen staged a protest rally against National Logistic Cell and chanted slogans against them. The rally was led by Mufti Muhammad Ejaz and Mirajuddin Shinwari stormed over the construction NLC site and also stopped the construction work.

The protesters were of the view that NLC officials violating the agreement signed with the Khugakhel elders and occupied their property in Torkham border town. Police and Frontier Corps confronted the mob and dispersed the angry Khugakhel tribesmen. Several protesters were also arrested and the sit-in camp was also dismantled by the cops.

Landikotal and Torkham bazaars would remain close today(Wednesday) to observed agitation against the illegal occupation of NLC on their land, traders union president Jafar Shinwari told media.
