TORKHAM BORDER: After several suspected Corona Virus cases were reported in Afghanistan, the Pakistani border authorities deployed health teams at the Torkham border to screen all passengers and vehicles coming from Afghanistan, officials said on Wednesday.
Assistant commissioner of Landikotal Muhammad Imran told this scribe that taking safety measures they on the directives installed a 21 members health team at the Torkham border points. He said they have deployed health screening workers separately for women, male and truck crew members coming from Afghanistan.
He said that in the Khyber district, all entry points have deployed health workers for screening for Coronavirus.
Imran said they check around 7,000 persons every day. He added that no corona case was diagnosed at the Torkham border.
“We have established an isolation ward at the Torkham border where ambulance and health staff are stand by to provide medical care in any patient with coronavirus cross the border”, said the official.
He said the Torkham border was operational as usual and that pedestrians and transports were running to and from Afghanistan.
