Clashes in Kurram District Claims 11 Lives, Injure 80: Urgent Intervention Needed

SADDA: A total of 11 people have died and caused injuries to 80 in clashes between two tribes. the clashes occurred in different areas of Pakistan Kurram tribal district.

The clashes started five days ago in the Boshehra Dandar area and spread to other areas including Khar Kallay, Baleshkhel, Pewar, Gidu, Teri Mengal, Karman Para Chamkani, Maqbal and Kunj Alizai.
People in the affected areas are facing a persistent shortage of food items, medicine and fuel due to the blockade of roads. Educational institutions have been closed and normal life has also been hit.
Kurram Deputy Commissioner Syed Saiful Islam Shah revealed that collaborative efforts with tribal elders were underway to halt the ongoing clashes.

He expressed his disappointment over the continuous violation of ceasefire agreements that had been implemented in different parts of the district.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Sajid Hussain Turi, personally engaged in negotiations to establish a ceasefire.

He mentioned the presence of Kohat Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah and other law enforcement officials in Parachinar, adding, “We are actively working towards restoring peace in the area, and deploying armed forces in the conflict zones.”
The situation remains uncontrolled due to repeated breaches of the ceasefire agreements,” he remarked, urging both the provincial and federal governments to swiftly intervene and bring an end to the clashes.
The minister stressed the necessity of taking action against those persistently violating the ceasefire agreements.
