Army Captain Martyred in Militant Drone Attack in Tirah Valley

Landikotal: An officer of the Pakistan Army, Captain AbbasShinwari, embraced martyrdom while Sepoy Farhan sustained injuries after a militant attack using a drone-copter munition at the Mamanrray Check Post in the Tirah Valley of Khyber district on Tuesday.

According to security sources, militants targeted the check post by dropping an explosive device through a drone, which detonated upon impact, resulting in the martyrdom of Captain Abbas on the spot. The injured soldier was shifted to a nearby medical facility, where he is reported to be stable.

Following the incident, security forces launched a search and clearance operation in the surrounding areas, while security was further tightened to prevent any further untoward incidents.

The funeral prayers of Captain Abbas were offered today in his native village, Landikotal, which were attended by Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, the Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Omar Bukhari, senior military and civil officials, tribal elders, and a large number of residents.

The martyr was laid to rest with full state honours, amid emotional scenes as family members, fellow soldiers, and residents paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice for the country.

The nation salutes the bravery and sacrifice of Captain Abbas, whose martyrdom once again highlights the continued threat of militancy and the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s security forces in safeguarding peace.
