LANDIKOTAL: The Landikotal police on Monday said that they have arrested the alleged killer of a football player who was assassinated near his home in Landikotal a month ago.
Additional station house officer Azmat Wali Shinwari told Lead Pakistan that the suspect was arrested along with the weapon used in a murder and started further interrogation.
Lavid Shah, son of Jan Muhammad, a social worker and football player, was gunned down by unknown gunmen near the Landikotal football complex situated next to his home in Landikotal.
Later, District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal took notice of the incident and established a special investigative team led by Superintendent Investigation Khyber, Rooh-ul-Ameen. The team conducted a thorough investigation using modern techniques and effectively tracked down the main suspect.
During a successful operation, Landidkoot Station House Officer (SHO) Adnan Afridi and his team apprehended the suspect, Muhammad Nawaz, son of Samandar Khan, resident of Mukhtarkhel village in Landidkotal. Police also recovered the weapon.
Police said the accused in the first investigation admitted that he had a personal dispute with the deceased.
