LANDIKOTAL: Pakistani authorities at Torkham border allowed 195 persons and 101 empty trucks stranded in Afghanistan for a month due to Coronavirus lock down and entered Pakistan via Torkham border point,officials said on Friday.
Additional assistant commissioner of Landikotal Shamsul Islam told FATAVOICE that on the directives federal government they permitted 195 Pakistani drivers and cleaners and their 101 trucks to enter Pakistan.He said all the Pakistani citizens and their trucks were disinfected as they entered Pakistan and went to formal health guideline adopted after Coronavirus outbeark.
The official said the Pakistsni national entered from Afghanistan were sent to two different quarantine centres in Landikotal where they were put in isolation wards. He said the empty trucks were disinfected and parked in a parking lot.
“We opened border for today to facilitate those stranded in Afghsnistan and will follow the government directives for next day”, said Shamsul Islam. He said they yet did not know for next day plan whether the govermment would allow more people to come into Pakistan or not.
Deputy commissioner of Khyber Mehmood Aslam Wazir said they have provided best possible facilities at isolatiom wards and give them proper foods. He said each persons and their belongings was being disinfect properly before they shift Coronavirus suspect patient into the quarantine centres.
