KHYBER: A jirga between the district administration of Khyber and a 24-member representative committee from Tirah Valley has concluded with a formal agreement on the evacuation and rehabilitation of displaced residents.

Under the accord, evacuation of the Tirah Valley plain will begin on January 10 and conclude by January 30. Both sides have signed the agreement.

Officials said the phased return of families will start after April 5, following completion of the military operation.

Owners of houses completely destroyed will receive Rs3 million in compensation, while those whose homes were partially damaged will be given Rs1 million. Each displaced family will also receive Rs250,000 in cash assistance after biometric verification, along with a monthly stipend of Rs50,000.

The government will ensure transportation, medical support along the routes, and food supplies for affected families during relocation. Biometric verification will be carried out at Bagh Markaz and Pandi Chena. Families who relocate before January 10 will also be included after verification and survey.

Officials said the process is designed to ensure transparency and to facilitate an orderly and organized evacuation and rehabilitation effort.
