ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Afghan nationals living illegally in Pakistan have been found involved in several recent security incidents, making their repatriation essential for national security.

Speaking to reporters, Naqvi said Pakistan had hosted Afghan citizens with respect for many years, but the current situation requires their orderly and dignified return to Afghanistan.

“They have been our respected guests, but now they must go back honourably,” he said. “Anyone attempting to re-enter Pakistan without legal documents will face the law.”

Naqvi pointed to recent cases where all three attackers involved in an assault on Frontier Corps personnel were Afghan nationals. The assailant who attacked a court in Islamabad was also identified as an Afghan citizen.

He said these incidents show that Afghan nationals have played a role in Pakistan’s security challenges and urged the Afghan Taliban government to take firm action against violent elements.

The minister added that the repatriation of undocumented Afghan citizens is already underway in three provinces, while work is in progress to close camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“National security requires a single, unified policy,” Naqvi emphasized. “This is a shared responsibility, and there should be no separate decisions on such matters.”
