Poetry Session Raises Awareness on Polio Held

LANDIKOTAL: In a heartfelt celebration of World Polio Day, the “Voices Against Polio” poetry session in Landikotal on Friday brought together poets from diverse backgrounds to inspire community action and resilience against polio.

Through evocative poems and personal narratives, including contributions from polio survivors, the event highlighted the critical importance of vaccination and community involvement in combating this preventable disease.

The session featured a variety of poetic expressions ghazals, verses, and stories. Each conveys powerful messages about the role of community participation in the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI).

Said Afzal Shinwari, Khyber polio communication Officer emphasized that raising awareness about the disease and fostering a sense of ownership within the community are essential for successful public health initiatives.

Participants were particularly moved by the stories of polio survivor poets, who spoke candidly about their experiences and the strength they found in overcoming adversity. Their contributions resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a poignant reminder of the personal impact of the disease.

At the event’s conclusion, Said Afzal Shinwari presented appreciation awards to the poets for their impactful contributions, recognizing their role in shaping public awareness and inspiring action against polio.
