LANDIKOTAL: Khyber police continued their operations against drug dealers, successfully apprehending an Afghan smuggler during a recent search and recovered 9 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine) from his luggage, police said on Wednesday.
Station House Officer Adnan Afridi said that on the directives of District Police Officer(DPO) Rai Mazhar Iqbal, the anti-drug campaign was making significant progress.
He said additional SHO Azmat Wali Shinwari and the police party conducted a snap checking in Landikotal bazaar and arrested a suspect identified as Taj Muhammad, son of Ahmad Khan, a resident of Afghanistan. He said the arrested person was reportedly involved in smuggling ice from Afghanistan to Pakistan. He said they recovered 9 kilograms of Ice drug from his possession concealed in a backpack which was being smuggled into parts of Pakistan.
DPO Khyber, Raye Mazhar Iqbal, emphasized the community’s shared responsibility in combating drug abuse and said that drug dealers did not deserve any leniency and would face iron hands.
I may be added here that police in the past few months have seized a large quantity of narcotics in Landikotal and Torkham and arrested several drug traffickers.
