US To Enhance Counternarcotics Inspections In KP

PESHAWAR: The United States delivered two vehicles to the Planning and Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Islamabad.

A ceremony was held in which the vehicles were handed over, donated by the US Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

The vehicles will support Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s efforts to conduct counternarcotics field inspections for poppy reduction and monitor the implementation of alternative crop projects in the Newly Merged Districts.
US embassy’s INL Director Lori Antolinez handed over a ceremonial key to symbolize the partnership. 

Director Antolinez recognized the collaboration between the United States and Pakistan and said that “I am hopeful that this collaborative assistance will help Pakistan counter illegal crops while also promoting the development of profitable, legal crop production of numerous types of vegetables and flowers”.Adding that under the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework. They were advancing cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, and water.

The United States is committed to supporting Pakistan as it strengthens climate resilience, pursues energy transformation, and fosters inclusive economic growth.

Director Antolinez also highlighted the 76 years of partnership between the United States and Pakistan.  

For more than four decades, the US Government, through INL had invested more than 1 billion dollars to improve citizens’ security and enhance law enforcement capacity across Pakistan. 
INL works in more than 80 countries to help combat crime and corruption, counter the narcotics trade, improve police institutions, and advance fair and accountable court systems.
