TORKHAM: Pakistan Customs on the second consecutive day foiled two more separate bids to smuggle foreign currency to Afghanistan and arrested the piddlers, officials said on Saturday.

Custom Inspector Moazzam Ali and Abdul Wajid Khan said that customs enforcement staff during routine checking recovered 5700 United States dollars from an Afghani national at the pedestrian departure hall. They said the foreign currency was being smuggled to Afghanistan from Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the customs also recovered 14200 Euros from the luggage of an Afghan family at the Torkham border. Officials said cases have been registered.
It may be added here that customs authorities had impounded two trucks carrying Indian-made goods being smuggled to Pakistan the other day at the Torkham border.
