Six FIA Officials Injured in Torkham Scuffle

TORKHAM: At least six Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) employees were injured in a scuffle and baton charge with Frontier Crops(FC) personnel in Torkham on Sunday, sources said.

The video of the scuffle and baton charge was widely spread on social media in which FC personnel could be seen beating FIA employees with sticks.
Sources said that both FIA and FC employees exchanged harsh words inside the Immigration offices in Torkham that led to the exchange of fistcuff each other.

According to eyewitnesses, at least six FIA employees sustained wounds on their faces and hands and were taken to district Headquarters hospital in Landikotal.

Arif, Amjad and Zulfiqar were among the FIA officials wounded in the scuffle and baton charge with FC personnel. Doctors in Landikotal stated stable the injured FIA officials.
Torkham Immigration offices and other movement was temporarily suspended for a short while which was later resumed for passengers and transportation, sources said.

The reason behind the incident could not be ascertained rill filing to this report. However, a row to take over the powers of searching and checking of goods and passengers luggage was reported among FIA, police, customs and FC in Torkham.
Later, FIA additional Director Torkham Yasar Arafat said that they held a meeting with the FC commandant who termed the incident in bad words. He said the FC top commander also excused with FIA and urged them to avoid incidents like this in the future. He said they were in contact with high-ups to resolve the matter.
