Sales Tax on fresh fruits from Afghanistan abolished

TORKHAM: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue(FBR) Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed on Sunday visited Torkham border and reviewed the system of clearances being provided by Pakistan Customs.

He was received by the Chief Collector Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ahmed Raza Khan, member customs (Operations), Syed Tariq Huda, and member Customs (Policy) Saeed Jadoon.
Chairman FBR was given a presentation at Zero point about the mechanism of clearance at the Torkham border by the officers of Pakistan Customs.

Ahmed Reza Khan welcomed the chairman and stated that the visit of the chairman would bridge the gap between the trade community of Torkham and FBR which would be a good omen for trade facilitation.

FBR chairman said the sales tax on fruits imported from Afghanistan has been abolished. He said it helped the traders and border authorities to clear all trucks of fresh fruits stranded on the Afghan side of the border.

Chairman FBR also met with the members of the Sarhad Chamber and other traders and assured them of the smooth processes of clearances documentation processes.

He also appreciated the dynamic role in improving trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan by Chief Collector Peshawar Ahmed Raza Khan.
