LANDIKOTAL: The provincial minister ordered an inquiry after a woman and her child died due to the negligence of Labour room staff at the district Headquarters hospital in Landikotal, sources said on Friday.
Provincial minister Allama Muhammad Adnan Qadri told The News by phone that he was informed about the alleged negligence by the health staff at DHQ hospital that caused a mother and her child’s death.
Earlier, the husband of the ill-fated woman Rehman Shinwari, Shamsuddin and others staged a protest outside the Labour room saying that they had brought the patient into a critical situation. He said that health staff told them that the baby could be delivered through surgery. They said they were asked to take the patient to a hospital in Peshawar after an hour due to her serious health condition. Rehman said they rushed to hire the hospital’s ambulance but failed. They shifted the patient with her surgery cuts on her body to Peshawar but too late.
They alleged that as they reached Peshawar they were told the mother and her baby had died due to severe bleeding.
The husband of the woman registered a case against the health staff at Landikotal police station and asked inquiry against them.
Meanwhile, provincial minister Allam Muhammad Adnan Qadri took notice of the incident and directed the SHO Landikotal, District Health Officer and District Police Officer to take serious notice of the incident and conduct a fair investigation.
