Latif Afridi, Senior Pakistani Lawyer, Shot Dead Inside Peshawar High Court

PESHAWAR: Latif Afridi, a prominent lawyer and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), was fatally shot on Monday inside the Peshawar High Court.

According to sources, Latif Afridi was sitting in the bar room with other lawyers when a gunman opened fire at him. He was immediately rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The killer has been taken into custody. He has been identified as Adnan Afridi.
The attacker is a close relative of judge Aftab Afridi, who had been killed along with his family members last year.
Latif Afridi and his family were named as suspects in that case but a court later found them not guilty and released them.
Latif Lala’s funeral is to be offered today in Bagh e Naran, Hayatabad, Peshawar.
Latif Afridi, 79, was a famous tribal leader, a well-known politician and an attorney who had also served as MAN for the Ex-Fata Khyber Agency (District Khyber) in the past.
