LANDIKOTAL: Annual elections of the District Press Club Landikotal (reg) for 2024-25 concluded on Wednesday.
The election committee chairman, Ashrafuddin Pirzada, formally announced the results. Shah Rehman Shinwari secured 14 votes and was elected president for the second consecutive term. His opponent received only 2 votes.
For the position of General Secretary, Shahid Shinwari won by obtaining 12 out of 16 votes, while his opponent managed 4.
Siam Khan Afridi and Rahim Afridi were elected unopposed as Vice President(VP) and press secretary, respectively.
The election process was supervised by district Bar Association Executive body member Muhammad Qubais Shinwari and Barrister Liaqat Shinwari, the representative of District Bar Association president Farhad Khan Afridi, as an observer on behalf of the directorate general of the information department.
Other notables including Tehsil Chairman Shah Khalid Shinwari, Torkham Customs Clearing Agents president Mujeeb Khan Shinwari, Qaumi Watan Party leader Shaoor Afridi, PML-N leader Neelam Shinwari, JUI leader Maulana Aqib, National Issues Committee members Kaleemullah Shinwari, Zahid Shinwari, Landikotal bazaar Traders’ Union president Ataullah Afridi, neighbourhood chairman Haji Sher Afridi, SHO Adnan Afridi, Transport Union President Azeemullah and Bazaar In-charge Police Officer Bengal Afridi also observed the election.
Observers expressed satisfaction with the transparent electoral process.
Addressing the gathering, newly elected president Shah Rehman Shinwari vowed to continue efforts to resolve the Press Club’s issues. He emphasized his determination to secure an official press club building and pledged to fulfill the expectations of his colleagues, ensuring their trust remains intact.
